Q: Do I need to use a heating pad with castor oil? What about the "cool" formula?
A: Heating pads are recommended with castor oil to help increase the oil's absorption by the skin. Heat opens pores and thins the castor oil.
You do not need to use a heating pad with the cool formula; however, using a heating pad will not negate any benefits of the cool formula.
Q: Can castor oil be taken internally?
A: We do not advise taking castor oil internally because it can cause gastrointestinal distress. To learn more about castor oil, please read our ingredient profile: Castor Oil.
Q: Is the castor oil processed with chemicals or heat?
A: The organic castor oil we purchase is extracted using an expeller pressing method, which involves a mechanical process with extremely low heat and is then mechanically filtered. No extracting chemicals or high heat are involved.
Q: Can castor oil help my hair grow longer and stronger?
A: Castor oil has been suggested to improve hair growth. Our cool formula for hair growth is infused with rosemary which is also suggested to help hair growth.
Q: What size are the castor oil cloth packs?
A: They are 6 inches by 4 inches.
Q: Does the pad come with each bottle or do I need to purchase that separately?
A: The pad the oil is placed on and then applied to your body is sold separately.
Q: Is the castor oil ever in contact with plastic? From beginning to end?
A: We receive it in stainless steel drums. We infuse it in stainless steel drums (no liner). We pour it into glass bottles once infused. It is never in plastic.
Q: Is your castor oil hexane free?
A: Yes!
Q: Will I experience detox symptoms while using this?
A: Most likely not. The herbs and ingredients we use do not force detox on the body but support the body's natural detox pathways.

Soak a cloth lightly in oil. Apply to area needed to treat and cover with a heating pad. (Purchase one of our Flax Heating Pads HERE.) Rest for 30 - 60 minutes. Repeat as needed.
One cloth can be used 20 - 30 times. Cloths can be washed or replaced.

Q: Which castor oil formula should I use? Can I use both? What is the difference between Warm and Cool Castor Detox? A: Both formulas have castor oil infused with herbs. You can use both of them at any given time, but we suggest applying them in different areas depending on your needs. In the herbal world, warming and cooling have slightly different meanings than the typical warm or cold. The Cool formula contains peppermint and rosemary and is often preferred by those who enjoy a refreshing herbal experience. The Warm formula contains ginger and cinnamon and offers a warming botanical blend.Warming for an herbal preparation means those herbs can be used to increase the internal heat and circulation in the body. Warming herbs can stimulate digestion and provide energy as well. Through that supported circulation, they also can help move inflammation along. Cooling herbs have the opposite effect; they are used to reduce excess heat, calm inflammation, and promote relaxation.Our Cool Formula is infused with rosemary and peppermint leaves, and is best for liver support, ovarian health, and people who are generally hot/overheated (among other things!).Our Warm Formula is infused with cinnamon and ginger root, and is best for joint stiffness, general inflammation, and people who are generally cool/feel cold easily (among other things!).
Q: How long and often do I need to apply the castor oil for it to work? A: For best results, we suggest applying it as a castor oil detox pack for 30-45 minutes and using it once a week for detox purposes.Some people will apply it as a body oil and keep it on all day, every day, if they cannot do the heating pad detox. Castor oil has a comedogenic rating of 1, which means it is unlikely to clog pores.
Q: Can I use the castor oil to help my eyelashes grow? A: Due to the herbal infusions in our castor oils, we do not suggest applying near the eyes.
Q: How does it help the organs that I put it over? A: Castor oil will help support the organs that it is placed over and absorbed around by supporting improved circulation, lymphatic drainage, digestion, drawing out impurities, and having anti-inflammatory properties.
Q: Why do I need to use a cloth and not apply it directly to my skin? A: Castor oil is an oil and will stain your clothes. We recommend using a cloth to avoid this.
