Description

We love sunshine. We also love taking care of our skin while we're out enjoying it. Sun Shield is an antioxidant-rich herbal balm made to nourish, moisturize, and support skin during time outdoors. It combines comfrey, calendula, and dandelion with raspberry seed oil, grapeseed oil, avocado oil, olive oil, and mango butter for simple, plant-based skin support.

These oils and herbs provide naturally occurring antioxidants and skin-loving compounds that help defend against free radicals while keeping sun-exposed skin soft, moisturized, and comfortable. This formula contains no added fragrance or essential oils, it's gentle enough for the whole family, including babies and kids.

Keep the jar handy for arms, legs, shoulders, and other exposed areas, or grab the convenient stick for faces, noses, ears, and anywhere you want a less-messy application.

Important: Sun Shield is a skincare product, not a sunscreen. It does not contain an FDA-recognized sunscreen active ingredient and does not have a tested SPF rating. It should not be relied upon to prevent sunburn or UV damage.

Manufactured in a cGMP-certified facility in Columbus, Ohio.

Our Revive & Restore Promise: 100% clean ingredients – no compromises. Free of sulfates, parabens, fragrance, colors, preservatives, and top allergens.

FAQs

Is Sun Shield a replacement for sunscreen? Is it a sunscreen?

Sun Shield is not a sunscreen. Products must contain either a chemical blocker (like oxybenzene) or a physical blocker (like zinc oxide) to legally be considered a sunscreen. Instead, Sun Shield uses plant oils and herbs that have a natural SPF and protect skin on a cellular level. Some people use it instead of a traditional sunscreen and some people use it along with a traditional sunscreen.

What is the SPF of Sun Shield?

Because it is not legally a sunscreen, it has no official SPF rating.

If Sun Shield is made from oils, will it make me "cook" in the sun?

No. Applying botanical oils to your skin doesn't cause it to "cook" in sunlight. Sun Shield's plant oils are used to moisturize, nourish, and provide antioxidant support to the skin. That said, the oils should also not be assumed to protect against sunburn. Sun Shield is skincare, not tested sun protection.

Why does Sun Shield contain seed oils?

Topical use isn't the same thing as frying food in an oil at high temperatures.

Sun Shield uses botanical oils, including grapeseed and raspberry seed oils, because of their skin-conditioning fatty acids and antioxidant plant compounds.

They are applied topically at normal skin and outdoor temperatures rather than being subjected to high-temperature cooking.

Is Sun Shield strong enough for a full day at the beach?

Sun Shield does not have a tested SPF, so we cannot tell you that it provides a specific level or duration of UV protection. For extended or intense sun exposure, use appropriate sun-protective measures such as shade, protective clothing, hats, and a tested broad-spectrum sunscreen.

Sun Shield can still be used for moisturizing and antioxidant skin support.

What if I've used Sun Shield before and didn't burn?

Everyone's skin responds to sun exposure differently, and factors like skin tone, genetics, location, season, time of day, length of exposure, and UV index can significantly affect whether someone burns.

An individual experience of not burning doesn't establish an SPF or guarantee protection during future sun exposure.

Can babies and kids use Sun Shield?

Yes. Sun Shield is formulated for all ages and contains no added fragrance or essential oils.

For babies and young children, use age-appropriate sun-safety practices, including shade and protective clothing.

Does Sun Shield contain zinc oxide?

No. Sun Shield does not contain zinc oxide.

Does Sun Shield contain chemical sunscreen filters?

No. Sun Shield does not contain conventional chemical sunscreen active ingredients. It is an herbal skincare product rather than an FDA-regulated sunscreen.

Does Sun Shield contain essential oils or fragrance?

No. Sun Shield contains no essential oils or added fragrance, making it a simple option for families and people who prefer unscented skincare.

Directions & Warnings

Directions:

Rub a small amount of our natural sun protection cream into all exposed areas of skin 10 - 15 minutes before going outside. Reapply every 2 - 3 hours. Use our stick version on the face, neck, and other areas you don't want to apply an oily product.

Can I use Sun Shield while swimming? You can apply Sun Shield as a moisturizing skincare product around swimming and other outdoor activities. However, it has not been tested or rated as a water-resistant sunscreen and should not be relied upon for UV protection while swimming.

Can I use Sun Shield on my face? Yes. The 0.5 oz. stick is especially convenient for the face, neck, and smaller areas because it allows for less-messy application. Avoid getting the product into the eyes.

How often should I reapply Sun Shield? For continued moisturizing and skin support, reapply every 2–3 hours as needed. This recommendation refers to using Sun Shield as a skincare product and should not be interpreted as an SPF or sunburn-protection interval.
